Who We Are
Myrtle Sims was a teacher in Houston independent (private) schools from 1986 to 2008, teaching mathematics to lower school and middle school students for twenty-two years. She was Director of Admissions and a member of the financial aid committee at St. John's School for fourteen years.
In addition, she has served on board committees, designed and implemented large-scale admissions events and was a member of the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) national advisory board for ten years.
Today as an educational consultant she shares her years of experience and insight with you. Her goal is to use her wealth of knowledge to help you search for the schools that best match your children's needs and to give students the greatest possible advantages as they go through the admissions process.
Myrtle knows that different students have different strengths and needs and that different families are looking for different approaches to the schools admission process, which is why an individual consultation is the first step in any search for an independent (private) school.
During her fourteen years in Admissions, she read literally thousands of applications and interviewed hundreds of children and their parents. As a result, she knows the varied backgrounds (private, public, and parochial schools) from which families come, and she knows the challenges of selecting a new school, whether in town or from across the country, as children grow and their needs change.
Having run an admissions program herself, she knows the ins and outs of the process from all points of view and is eager to share her knowledge and insights with families who are grappling with the critical decision of where their children should go to school.
